Role Description:


The role of the Global Communications department is to understand and influence the perceptions of
Booking.com through impactful communication in order to build trust in our brand and company.
The Lead, Global Communications - Corporate Functions is a senior individual contributor role
responsible for shaping and delivering global communications for Booking.com’s corporate functions,
including People, Finance, Legal, and Strategy & Business Development.


Working closely with the Manager, Global Communications, this role acts as a trusted communications
partner to senior leaders in these functions, helping them navigate complex topics, moments of change,
and ongoing business priorities through clear, impactful communication. The role spans
department-level communications, leadership messaging, internal and external events, and
company-wide initiatives, requiring strong judgment, influence, and the ability to operate confidently in
ambiguity.


Working closely with peers across Global Communications, the Lead ensures alignment with broader
company narratives while tailoring messages to functional and leadership needs. The role plays a key
part in building trust, clarity, and consistency across the organisation.


Role Qualifications and Requirements:


Key Responsibilities

 

● Support the planning and delivery of global communications for corporate functions, in close
partnership with the Manager, Global Communications.
● Help translate functional strategies, decisions, and changes into clear, employee-centric
communications.
● Contribute to communication plans for complex or sensitive topics, ensuring messages are
well-structured, accurate, and aligned with company direction.
● Own the day-to-day execution of communications for supported functions, including regular
updates and targeted engagement moments.
● Coordinate messaging across channels to ensure consistency, clarity, and timely delivery.
● Work with regional and specialist communications partners to support global rollouts and local
adaptation where needed.
● Draft and refine key messages, talking points, narratives, and Q&A for senior leaders across
internal and external moments.
● Support leaders in preparing for town halls, leadership meetings, employee forums, and other
key communication moments.
● Provide thoughtful input and recommendations on tone, sequencing, and audience
considerations.
● Support global leadership and internal events, ensuring strong messaging, coordination, and
execution.
● Contribute to selected company-wide communications initiatives, partnering with peers across
Global Communications.
● Draft high-quality written and presentation content across channels, aligned to Booking.com’s
tone of voice and brand standards.
● Contribute to central messaging documents and narrative frameworks to ensure consistency.
● Ensure communication outputs are accurate, polished, and fit for senior audiences.
● Contribute to Communications craft (tools, processes, standards and quality) as needed
● Expected to participate in community events and contribute where relevant
● Organize craft sessions for and with other Communication Leads and Specialists
● Encouraged to be an interviewer for Communication Specialist roles


Required Skills & Experience:


● Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Ability to craft clear, engaging and
grammatically sound content for various audiences and platforms.
● Intermediate Understanding of Communication Principles: Expanding expertise with a broad
range of concepts in public relations, media relations, and corporate communications.
● Feedback and Management Skills: Capable of providing constructive feedback and fostering
professional growth within the team.
● Strategic Planning: Proficiency in developing comprehensive communication plans for complex
projects.
● Project Management Expertise: Skilled in managing timelines, resources, and budgets
effectively.
● Strong Business Acumen: Understanding of business objectives and the ability to align
communication efforts accordingly.
● Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in measuring communication effectiveness and using data to
inform strategies.

● Excellent Influencing and Presentation Skills: Competence in delivering presentations to
stakeholders at various levels.
● Creative Thinking: Ability to generate innovative ideas for campaigns and messaging.
● Crisis Communication Experience: Experience managing crises and the ability to support crisis
communication efforts.
● Social Media Savvy: Understanding of major social media platforms and how to leverage them
for communication purposes.
● Cultural Competence: Ability to navigate and communicate effectively within a global context.
● Adaptability: Agile in responding to changing priorities and business needs.
