Impact

As a TM Scenario Expert, you help Rabobank proactively protect its customers, society, and itself against money laundering and terrorism financing by developing and improving Transaction Monitoring detection rules. You will work with 43,822 Rabobank colleagues worldwide.

You & your role

Preventing financial economic crime (FEC) is a key priority for both our society and our organization, and as a bank, we play a major role in this field. As a TM Scenario Expert, you will help combat FEC by designing and continuously improving transaction monitoring (TM) rules based on identified typologies, leveraging your deep understanding and awareness of money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF) risks.

As a TM Scenario Expert, you are part of the TM Control Standards department within the Transaction Monitoring pillar of the Financial Economic Crime organization. You will work in a dynamic, innovative environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary squads and internal stakeholders. As part of this role, you break down regulatory requirements, ML/TF typologies and operational challenges into clear, actionable components, enabling effective TM rule design. You play a pivotal role in developing detection rules that protect our customers and our organization.

Examples from practice

  • Lead the design and development of TM rules that generate alerts for suspicious patterns or behaviours, leveraging your expertise in ML/TF risks and typologies.

  • Continuously optimise and enhance TM rules in collaboration with data scientists, leverage data-driven insights to address emerging risks and adapt to regulatory changes effectively.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including FEC Technology, TM Operations, and Compliance to ensure successful implementation and alignment of TM rules with organization objectives.

Facts & figures

  • 36 hours per week.

  • Approx. 25 colleagues in the Global Coverage & Control Design team and approx. 10 colleagues per mixed squad.

  • 43,822 Rabobank colleagues around the world.

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Develop and refine TM detection rules by applying expert knowledge of ML/TF risks to ensure effective risk coverage and compliance.

  • Analyse complex TM issues independently or collaboratively, substantiating insights with data and engaging stakeholders.

  • Facilitate decision-making in TM rule design, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational objectives.

You will work in a multidisciplinary squad, translating regulatory trends and developments into new scenarios for transaction monitoring.

Together we achieve more than alone

We believe in the power of difference. By combining people’s differences, we become an even better bank. We are curious about what you will add to our Transaction Monitoring team.

“By translating trends and developments in the field of integrity risks such as money laundering and terrorist financing into new scenarios for transaction monitoring, we ensure better protection for our customers, society and Rabobank itself.” Inge Jager, Coverage & Control Design.

The 25 colleagues in the Global Coverage & Control Design team are responsible for designing and maintaining effective TM coverage and control. We work as one focused, analytical team within Rabobank.

Work on yourself & the world around you

At Rabobank, we believe that your personal development strengthens your ability to fight financial economic crime and enables you to contribute to our broader mission of safeguarding society from financial economic crimes. We invest in you and work together for a better world. At Rabobank, you work on yourself and the world around you.

You have access to your own development budget, our hybrid working environment, and a good balance between work and home. Your development empowers you to design smarter transaction monitoring solutions that prevent our private and business customers from being exploited by ML/TF risks. Through your growth, you contribute to building a safer and more resilient society.
