Banking Stage Afstudeerstage

At ING, we are accelerating our use of AI to improve both customer and employee experiences. One of our key focus areas is developing intelligent chatbots that simplify work, provide reliable information, and enable smarter decision‑making.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious AI Chatbot Initiative Intern who wants to contribute to the next generation of conversational experiences at ING.

You will join a team of engineers, working on the design, development, and evaluation of an AI‑powered internal chatbot. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a corporate environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the design, testing, and improvement of an AI chatbot for internal use within ING.

  • Help collect, analyse, and structure domain knowledge that the chatbot needs to operate effectively.

  • Evaluate chatbot interactions and identify improvement opportunities (accuracy, tone of voice, safety, routing).

  • Assist in prompt engineering, content creation, or conversational flows.

  • Work with engineering teams on integrating the chatbot into existing ING tooling or workflows.

  • Report insights and recommendations to the product owner and chapter leads.

  • Contribute to user research and usability testing sessions.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

You are a motivated student who:

  • Is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science.

  • Has affinity with chatbots, prompt engineering, or user‑centric design.

  • Is proactive, curious, and comfortable taking responsibility for your own work.

  • Enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Has good communication skills.

  • Experience with Azure, conversational design, or research methods is a bonus — not a requirement.

Rewards and benefits

This is a great opportunity to train with highly skilled people who are experts in their field. You’ll do a lot and learn a lot – not only about your specialist area and the bank, but also about yourself and whether this type of environment is right for you.

You’ll also benefit from:

  • Internship allowance of 700 EUR based on 36 hours work week

  • Your own work laptop

  • Hybrid working to blend home working for focus and office working for collaboration and co-creation

  • Personal growth and challenging work with endless possibilities

  • An informal working environment with innovative colleagues
